Over 100 Southwest Shore families and friends gathered on Keystone Point on Saturday afternoon, July 29, to celebrate the summer of 2023. The weather was perfect — not too hot, not too cool. The lake is higher than it has been for many years. People were in a festive mood, happy to meet and greet Southwest Shore friends, many of whom had not seen each other for several years.
Our recreation director, Robbie Stuart, and her team organized a variety of games suitable for youngsters and oldsters alike. There were lots of happy faces among the winners, and good-natured laughter among winners and losers alike.
We enjoyed a wonderful BBQ meal of tri-tip and chicken, served with baked beans, various salads, corn-on-the-cob, rolls, etc. If you went home hungry, it was your own fault! There was plenty of beer, wine, and bottled water to quench your thirst. For dessert, delicious homemade pies — apple, cherry, and berry — were served with vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
After dinner as the sun was setting, we were entertained by some of our local talent — Brian Curley and Jeff Weyant strumming and singing with their guitars, and Ken White joining on harmonica. Some folks stayed late into the evening, while others drifted back to their cabins. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and there were many inquiries about when the next Summer Party would be.
Successful, enjoyable events do not happen without a dedicated group of organizers and volunteers, and our 2023 Summer Party was no exception. We owe a huge “Thank You” to the following people who stepped up to take responsibility for organizing these key areas:

Each of these organizers also had volunteer helpers, whom we want to thank for their time and their willingness to help make the 2023 Summer Party an outstanding success!
