Because of the government shutdown, the USDA Forest Service Permit Fee Invoices were delayed until mid-December. Consequently, the Fee Payment is due on February 1, instead of the usual January 1.
Your invoice may come to you either via email or regular mail. If you do not receive your bill by late December, contact the National Billing Team, either by phone at (202) 205-2244, or via email at SM.FS.WONBT@usda.gov.
The fee increase was 4.0% over the 2025 fees. The rate increase is due to the mechanics of the 5-year rolling average of the Gross Domestic Product - Implicit Price Deflator (GDP-IPD) index, which smooths out annual inflation rates and lags behind current inflation. For the full table of all fee tiers and more background on the fees, see the Permit Fees webpage on the National Forest Homeowners website. If you are not sure of your Fee Tier, check the Permit Fee amount you paid for 2025. Then find the Fee Tier number that corresponds to that amount in the "2025" column of the Permit Fee Table.
